Puck Rewind: 12/27 Vs. Calgary

Thoughts/Stats from the game against The Flames:

-Once again, a good 40 minutes on ice. In the 3rd, the Jackets fell back, but managed to not completely collapse and lose in regulation.

- In the faceoff department, Jeff Carter and Sammy Pahlsson were the big winners, winning a combined 27/37 in the faceoff dot.

- Nikita Nikitin lead the time on ice with 26:49, and it was another solid game from him.

-Jared Boll did absolutely nothing with his 8 minutes on ice, why is he still here?

-The Nash/Carter/Johansen line is a keeper, leading all lines with 9 shots, Johansen getting one assist on the lone goal for the CBJ. Provided a nice, much needed spark to the top line.

-Overall, the defense really showed up tonight in the 1st, and 2nd periods. Very different from the past 2 games, guys making good decisions, and no bonehead plays.

-Antoine Vermette has struggled as of late, losing his man on 2 goals against in Chicago, and tonight, missing a wide open net. Hopefully his snake bite wears off soon (8 games, no points)

- Derek Dorsett continues to give a great effort on the ice. Despite only managing 1  shot, he did manage to keep offensive pressure in the calgary zone with some very good puck work.

-How about that Steve Mason? A brilliant show of goaltending tonight stopping 25 of 26, including a few game savers in the 3rd. Lets hope he can string together a few more outings like this.

- You really have to wonder if The Blue Jackets are going to make any changes on or off ice, these losses continue to mount, and these bi-polar displays on ice (one night good, the other, terrible) can’t be making any decision easy.
